SixLines - Memorial App

Design prompt: Design a user friendly memorial app to honor loved ones with shared memories and supportive community features.

Overview:

SixLines is a memorial app designed to help users remember and honor their loved ones who have passed away. The app offers multiple functions to facilitate this, including the ability to create a personalized memorial page for each individual, share memories and photos, and connect with others who are grieving.

As the creator of SixLines, I have been involved in the development of the app from the very beginning, overseeing every aspect of the design and development process. The app is currently in the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) stage, meaning that it has the core features and functionality needed to be used and tested by early users.

In the future, We plan to integrate blockchain technology into the app to enhance its capabilities and improve the user experience. By leveraging the security and immutability of blockchain, we hope to provide users with a safe and reliable platform for remembering and honoring their loved ones. Overall, the goal of SixLines is to create a compassionate and supportive community for those who are grieving, and to help people find comfort and solace in remembering their loved ones.

Problem Statement

*Providing a Meaningful Memorial Platform for Honoring Loved Ones

Background: Individuals mourning the loss of loved ones often seek meaningful ways to honor and remember them. However, current memorialization options are fragmented and lack the personal touch and supportive community that can aid in the grieving process. These inefficiencies can make it difficult for people to preserve memories, share stories, and find emotional support.

Problem: The existing platforms for memorializing loved ones are inadequate and fail to meet the needs of individuals seeking to create lasting tributes. Key issues include:

  1. Emotional Sensitivity:

    • Many platforms lack a serene and respectful environment, failing to provide the emotional support necessary for grieving individuals.

  2. User Experience:

    • The current platforms are often difficult to navigate, leading to frustration and discouraging users from engaging fully with the memorialization process.

  3. Community Support:

    • There is a lack of integrated community features that allow users to connect with others who are also grieving, limiting opportunities for shared support and comfort.

Objective: To develop a serene user friendly memorial app that provides a respectful space for users to create detailed memorial profiles, share memories, and engage with a compassionate community, thereby enhancing the experience of honoring and remembering loved ones.

Goals

  1. Implement real time Emotional Support

  2. Provide Robust Memory Preservation Tools

  3. Facilitate Community Engagement

Expected Outcomes:

  • Users will feel a stronger sense of connection and support, aiding them in their grieving process.

  • Memorial profiles will be detailed, accurate, and reflective of the unique personalities of the deceased, preserving their memories effectively.

  • Users will experience a supportive community, fostering connections and shared experiences, which will enhance their emotional well being.

Conclusion: Addressing these goals with a dedicated memorial app like SixLines will significantly improve the experience of honoring and remembering loved ones, providing emotional support, efficient memory preservation, and a compassionate community for users.

Understanding the user:

In developing SixLines, we immersed ourselves in understanding the heartfelt needs of individuals seeking to honor and cherish their loved ones. Through conversations, surveys, and exploring existing memorial practices, we gained profound insights into what matters most to our users.

  1. Emotional Needs: Our users deeply desire a platform that allows them to express their emotions freely and share cherished memories in a meaningful and respectful manner. They seek comfort and connection during their journey of remembrance.

  2. Technical Comfort: We recognize that our users come from various backgrounds, each with their own comfort levels with technology. We've prioritized simplicity and intuitive design to ensure that everyone can navigate the app effortlessly and focus on what truly matters – honoring their loved ones.

  3. Community and Support: Many of our users find comfort in community support, where they can connect with others who understand their journey. Features like forums and support groups are integral to fostering a sense of shared remembrance and emotional support within SixLines.

With these insights at the core of our design process, SixLines is crafted to provide a serene and compassionate space where memories can be preserved, shared, and cherished, and where connections can be made.

Sketches/Low-fidelity Wireframing

In the initial stages of developing SixLines, we used sketches and low-fidelity wireframes to outline basic layouts and functionalities. These early designs helped us visualize memorial pages, interactive features, and user pathways, ensuring clarity and simplicity in our design approach. By focusing on these foundational elements, we aimed to create a user-friendly and emotionally resonant platform for sharing and preserving memories effectively.

High Fidelity Mockups

After receiving client approval on the wireframe, the next step was to develop mockups for SixLines, refining the application's design with key elements in mind:

  • Visual Harmony: Implementing a cohesive color scheme to guide users seamlessly through the platform and improve navigation.

  • Critical Alerts: Clearly identifying alerts and essential tasks to prioritize information and guide users to important actions efficiently.

  • Simplicity: Emphasizing a clean and straightforward design to minimize complexity and enhance user experience, ensuring tasks are completed effortlessly.

Our focus was on creating an intuitive and user friendly design that supports efficient task management and enhances overall usability across the SixLines platform.

High Fidelity Screens

  • The SixLines homepage is a hub for commemorating loved ones, offering intuitive features for creating personalized memorials. Users can easily share photos, stories, and tributes, and send virtual gifts to honor memories. The platform also facilitates seamless sharing of memories across social networks, fostering community and preserving legacies with compassion and ease.

  • SixLines enables users to create and gift Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as digital tributes to celebrate and immortalize memories of loved ones. This feature allows users to preserve photos, videos, and written tributes in NFT format, ensuring these memories can be securely shared and cherished on the blockchain for generations to come.
